​Born in Manchester, England, Paul's first taste of singing was in a school production of the spoof musical Dracula Spectacula playing none other than Count Dracula himself! He realised then that singing was something he wanted to pursue as more than a hobby......

​On leaving school and dabbling in a couple of  bands , Paul enrolled in a Performing Arts College in Manchester adding sound, lighting and stage management to his skills.



​His first engagement on leaving college was in Montpellier, South of France where he worked for four years as an Entertainer and Compere , all the while improving his vocal range and style.



However, it was Soul music where Paul really found his niche. Most notably in the style of Sam Cooke, Otis Redding , The Four Tops  and Marvin Gaye. As Paul explains,  "There was something about that style of music, not only did it suit my voice, but when I sang Soul and Motown people just seemed to get it, so I stuck with that" he laughs, "I mean, if it's not broke, don't fix it" 



On returning to England, Paul followed his father, who was also a singer, down the well worn route of the "Circuit". The Circuit was a large collection of Working Mens Clubs, mainly in the north of England which provided steady work to capable singers/comedians/musicians. He also took some  theatre engagements, most notably as the voice of the plant Audrey II in a critically acclaimed production of the hit musical "Little Shop of Horrors" With a cast that included Nicola Stephenson (Brookside,Casualty,Homefront) Paul was thrilled to take on the role of the hip,streetwise , jive talking, Mean Green Mother from Outer Space. and according to his Mum at least, "......only Levi Stubbs has done it better"
